I started working at David Z. in 1995 and these were the boots which made me fall in love with footwear. David Zaken had the footwear retail game on lock with Dolomite. I don’t expect most of you to understand or like these grails, but those who know could tell you what kind demand there was for Dolomite hikers. Both of these “Tibets” were hand made in Italy and retailed for $176. The Flat sole Vibram came out first in 95 and the classic arch followed in 96. Both boots are made from the same rough leather that is difficult for me to describe in words. This leather is literally indestructible, I have yet to see a leather to compete or even come close. I held on to these boots for 16 years and I will pass these to my kids. If you ask me what my favorite 1 shoe/boot/sneaker is, this is the answer.
